Dance Curious
Day, Time & Location: Varies
Specific Dates (tentative): 5/1, 5/14, 5/18, 6/5, 6/14, 6/22
Desired group size: 5+
Attendance requirements: Inconsistent attendance is okay
What to expect: Dance Curious is open to anyone intrigued by the joy of movement—whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a newbie. Together, we’ll try out a variety of dance styles like Contra dancing, East Coast Swing/Lindy Hop, salsa, ecstatic dance, Bollywood, Blues, and others our group members suggest. Rather than having regular meetings, we’ll plan meetups before each dance event to grab a quick bite and connect.
Trying a new style of dance can feel daunting on your own, but the idea behind the Dance Curious group is that there is safety in numbers! We’ll all be supporting and encouraging each other as we put ourselves out there. And we’ll participate as a group in each beginner class that’s offered before social dances, ensuring we all feel a bit more ready to jump right in.
Each session will offer a unique experience, allowing you to drop in for one, a few, or all gatherings as you feel called (and as your schedule permits). Join the group and discover or rediscover new forms of dance, connecting with other “movers and shakers” as you go.
We’ll meet up to experiment with different forms of dancing that take place in different locations, and different times and days of the week. The schedule is still being finalized, but may look something like this:
- Thursday, May 1 (7:00pm) Contra dancing in Concord
- Wednesday, May 14 (8:00pm) Swing dancing in Belmont (meet up at Sandy’s house in Belmont first!)
- Sunday, May 18 (10:30am) Nia with Nellie in Natick
- Thursday, June 5 (8:00pm) Blues dancing in Somerville
- Saturday, June 14 (11:45am) Bollywood/BollyX in Natick
- Sunday, June 22 (7:00pm) Contra dancing in Cambridge
We will also be looking for additional options closer to Natick.
About the facilitators: Sandy Heierbacher has been a member of Common Street for over a year, where the welcoming community has helped her step outside her comfort zone—including as a formerly very timid dancer. Two years ago, she set a goal to get comfortable dancing in public and make it a regular part of her life. Now, she attends Bollywood dance every Saturday and takes Lindy Hop/Swing classes weekly, while also exploring salsa, contra, ecstatic dance, and more. Along the way, she’s realized how more fun (and less intimidating) the journey would be with a supportive, curious group of friends.
Co-organizer Nellie Goodman is a lifelong dancer who feels most connected to joy and spirit when she moves. With a background in ballet, modern, Nia, BollyX, and Salsa/Bachata, she has explored many styles over the years and loves dance as a form of expression and connection. She’s thrilled to co-lead Dance Curious, creating a welcoming space for others to discover new styles, move freely, and experience the magic of dance in community.

Synchronicity, Signs and Spirits: A Scientific Approach
Day & Time: 3 Sundays and 1 Saturday from 2:00-3:30pm
Location: Meeting Room at Common Street Spiritual Center
Specific Dates: 4/27, 5/11, 5/25, 6/21
Desired group size: 3-7
Attendance requirements: Regular participation is important
What to expect: This group is for seekers who sense that life has deeper meaning and structure—but may not yet have the tools to fully access it. It’s ideal for anyone who:
- Feels drawn to spirituality but struggles to “hear” clear guidance.
- Experiences signs and synchronicities but isn’t sure what to make of them.
- Is at a creative or spiritual crossroads and wants direction.
- Feels they may have a deeper mission or “main quest,” but don’t know how to uncover it.
This group explores the deeper spiritual metaphor of life as a divinely designed “game,” where the goal is not to win in the traditional sense—but to align with your true path, recognize your soul’s mission, and follow the guidance that is always present.
The participants will become vastly more aware of the metaphorical lessons and messages sent to them through their Real-Self/Spirits/Angels/Higher-Consciousness Beings. We will include some nerdy physics explanation to show that this is Science-based and not simply esoteric writings.
Participants should be curious and open-minded. Ideally, you will already have some meditative or artistic practices, but this is not required, and can be done instead as homework.
Pre-work: Before the first session, watch the 30-minute video, Carl Jung’s Synchronicity
Session 1: How to Recognize Signs, Synchronicities, and “Quest Markers”
Session 2: Meditation and Manifestation: The Quantum Physics Explanation
Session 3: The Artist’s Way: Unlocking Creativity as a Channel for Guidance
Session 4: Closing Ceremony, aligned with Summer Solstice
Alternating Sundays might be used as Optional Online Check-Up.
About the facilitator: Harold Than, born and raised in Vietnam, blends Eastern spiritual sensitivity with Western academic training. After immigrating to the U.S., he earned a full scholarship to Dartmouth College, where he studied Computer Science and received awards for facilitating Economics-Philosophy groups.
After working in tech as a Lead Software Developer and Product Manager, he felt a deep calling to fully dedicate himself to the spiritual path. His journey includes years of plant medicine exploration, immersion in spiritual traditions, and profound experiences with telepathic messages, Spirit Orbs, and unseen dimensions of reality. Now rooted in Boston’s nature-based community, he integrates ecological awareness, technology, and spirituality to help others reconnect with their divine guidance and navigate life with clarity and soul.
