An Inclusive Community

Common Street Spiritual Center is a community that welcomes people of all faith backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles. We are an inclusive, love-centered community.

We welcome others to join us in building a community that is kind and caring, and which seeks to create a better world for ourselves and future generations.

No Barriers to Participation

We have designed our community to be like a living cell with a permeable membrane. You’re welcome to participate in any of our programs, events, groups, and gatherings without first becoming a member. The door is open.

Welcoming Leadership

We believe that each person has an inner “spiritual center,” a spark of light within. A central part of our mission is to help people get in touch with this inner guidance and inspiration, and to then support people as they manifest what flows from their spiritual centers. So we welcome your leadership, your desire to share what you are learning, to help others and to create a better world. (If this speaks to you, find out more at our Program Facilitators page.)

Definition of Membership

Members of Common Street Spiritual Center identify with our mission and vision, participate in the life of our community, contribute time and resources to support our mission, and live out our values within and beyond our community.

Non-Discrimination

As an inclusive, non-sectarian community, we welcome new members of all cultures and beliefs. We do not discriminate based on race, economic status, gender, age, sexual orientation or gender identity, marital status, ethnicity, nationality, handicap, or beliefs.

Becoming a Member

People typically become members of Common Street Spiritual Center after experimenting with participation in programs, events, and groups, through which they get to know people and see if our community is a good fit for them. All are welcome to participate in the life of the Spiritual Center community before committing to membership. For example, you can simply show up at a meditation group, a book discussion, the song circle, or any other event on our calendar.

When people come to know that they want to become members, they can simply fill out the Membership Form below (or download it here) to indicate their interest in joining. After we receive your form, a member of our membership committee will follow up with you. Also, you can talk to any current member about joining to express interest. And on the third Sunday of the month at 9am, we have a Community Life Conversation which is a great place to learn more about joining the community.

Our Member Directory is a way for members to easily be in touch with other members.
