Jerry Leake, a professor of world percussion at Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, specializes in the music of Ghana (Ewe/Dagomba) and India (Hindustani/Carnatic). In this interactive presentation, participants will explore the impact of drum languages and songs with the goal of internalizing musical time, groove, and mathematics. Jerry will showcase innovations using Harmonic Time (stepping, sticking, and voice), demonstrating their application across a variety of drumming traditions with a high level of independence.
