Compassion Meditation at ICE Detention
Join us in a compassion meditation practice at the Burlington ICE detention center on Wednesday, May 6 from 10:00 – 10:30 am before the Bearing Witness Stand Out. The object of the practice is to open our hearts and cultivate compassion for ourselves, the ICE detainees, and as we are able, everyone in the detention center. No prior meditation experience is necessary.
Come a few minutes early, introduce yourself and say hello to others who aim to unite activism and compassion in themselves. Look for signs not far from the Stand Out muster point at 1000 District Avenue, Burlington. Parking is restricted: plan ahead. See the Stand Out site for parking advice.
We will be holding this practice on the first Wednesday of the month through the summer: June 3, July 1, and August 5.
Who are we? Three friends – Michele, John, and Anne – longtime meditators who want to offer the opportunity to meet troubled times with open hearts.
