DESCRIPTION:DEDTALK is a community event where we gather and talk about all things death\, loss\, and mortality. At a typical DEDTALK event\, we have a group conversation followed by a mediumship reading. However\, once a year\, around The Day of the Dead\, we skip the group conversation and reading and allow folks to take the stage and express their personal relationship with death via their art of choice- dance\, music\, poetry\, storytelling\, etc. We will also have an ofrenda\, or ancestor altar\, which we encourage guests to bring photos and items for so we can honor those who have passed. \nWe believe that the more we talk about death\, the less taboo it becomes. It allows us to connect deeper as a community\, reduce fears\, and realize what is most important in life. Death is a natural part of life and is nothing to be feared.

SUMMARY:Bwiti Fire Talk: An Introduction to African Spirituality
DESCRIPTION:The Bwiti tradition is a spiritual practice that originated in southern Gabon but has now spread in different branches throughout Gabon\, Cameroon\, Congo\, and beyond. Bwiti is not a religion\, but a traditional spiritual path known to initiates as the “art of knowing” and the “study of life itself.” \nThe fire talk is an essential element of Bwiti healing practices. Every ceremony begins with a fire talk where Bwiti teachings are shared. In order to promote wisdom and groundedness in the village\, elders and medicine carriers (Ngangas and Maboundis) provide counseling rooted in the Bwiti teachings before the community partakes in ingesting medicine. \nThis fire talk session will be co-facilitated by Pamela “Ngondet Na Di Puma” Rosario Pérez and\nWill “Etsika Mbudi” Dickerson II. Ngondet and Etsika are traditional medicine and culture carriers of the Missoko Bwiti lineage\, initiated by the 10th-generation nima Papa Moughenda Mikala.

Since the horrific attack on Oct 7th\, in which many innocent Israelis were murdered\, Gaza has been decimated and countless Palestinian lives have been lost. Children are starving and being murdered. Many Israelis and Palestinians are still in captivity. All people deserve to be free. Genocide is being perpetrated in many places around the world\, in Sudan and in Congo. Our government continues to deny its responsibility for the suffering in our global human family. \nBring your hearts and the pain\, grief\, medicine of your authenticity to be held in safety. We are coming together to touch this great suffering\, to grieve together\, and to find hope and purpose through the cultivation of compassion\, wisdom\, and love. \nPeople of all beliefs\, backgrounds\, and spiritual paths are welcome. We will build a common altar and create a non-judgmental and loving container where healing can take place. All will be welcome to share poems\, songs\, and prayers\, and to speak their truths in a sacred circle. Here are the details… \n-Doors open at 6:30 for stretching\, snacking\, and socializing while music in the background sets the mood.\n-There will be an intention-setting meditation at 7:00 with a theme regarding the last days of summer\, the transition towards autumn and all of the changes that come with it… the leaves turn brilliant hues\, the days get shorter\, the nights colder\, but winter is still off on the horizon and plenty of harvests bear fruit.\n-We will then transition into dancing to delicious exotic jams\, with both DJ set/performance and live (often improv) accompaniment on a variety of instruments. It is our intention to create an inclusive experience. \nABOUT MIKE TAMBURO \nMike Tamburo is a world-renowned musician\, composer\, artist and educator. He is known and loved for his transformational live concerts performed on his personally curated set of gongs\, bells and other metal instruments.  \nA lifelong multi-instrumentalist\, Tamburo has focused his talents on metal percussion instruments\, string instruments (hammered dulcimer\, guitar\, zither\, shahi baaja)\, as well as electronic instruments (synths\, looping).  \nSince 1994\, Tamburo has shared more than 2\,000 concerts and workshops. He has recorded over 70 albums\, both solo and in collaboration with Crown of Eternity\, Meisha\, Arco Flute Foundation\, Psychic Frost\, Brother Ong and more\, ranging from epic gong music to ecstatic and transcendental string music\, as well as folk\, drone\, space rock\, ambient\, mantra music and sometimes unclassifiable sounds. This man loves music in all its forms!  \nHe teaches gong music\, both in person and online with School of Gong. He is also a part of the far-reaching ethnomusicology trio\, Dig Deeper\, with Mitch Nur and Thomas Orr Anderson. Their online classes have explored countless musical concepts with a focus on the cultural and personal uses of sound for healing\, meditation\, trance\, ecstatic states\, relaxation\, self transformation\, perception\, psycho-acoustics\, scientific discovery\, time and community.  \nAn early adoptee of meditation\, Tamburo’s music offers space for journeying\, self-exploration and deep introspection. During many of his early performances\, he experienced altered states of consciousness and out of body experiences. To understand these experiences\, he explored kundalini yoga\, energy work\, the therapeutic use of sound and how sound impacts consciousness\, human perception and self healing. His love for long sustained drones\, overtones and psychoacoustics continues to inspire him to explore music in further directions.  \nTamburo is also an interdisciplinary sound artist\, instrument builder\, video artist\, sound therapist\, writer and meditation teacher.

DESCRIPTION:The fifth ‘Divine Design – Ecstatic Dance & Sound Bath’ will be held on Friday\, June 14th at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick\, MA! Here are the details… \n-Doors open at 6:30 for stretching\, snacking\, and socializing while music in the background sets the mood.\n-There will be an intention-setting meditation at 7:00 with a theme regarding the approaching summer equinox… days full of light\, heat\, and my personal favorite time of the year!\n-We will then transition into dancing to delicious exotic jams\, with both DJ set/performance and live (often improv) accompaniment on a variety of instruments. This will be the ecstatic dance portion of the event.\n-Then\, cool down and ground with a soothing sound bath led by Kim Lentros that will tie in to the summer equinox theme to close out the event.\n-Stick around\, have snacks\, and socialize for a bit after the sound bath if you wish! \nThere is a suggested donation of $25-35 for this event\, but if funds are a barrier to entry for you\, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this releasing\, healing\, and uplifting community event… just donate whatever you can. Every contribution will help us to keep putting on these events\, as we would like for this event to keep happening on a regular basis! \nBring anything you might want… hoops/poi/etc. for flow arts\, a yoga mat/blanket/pillow for the sound bath\, water for hydration. There is so much already in the animals\, plants\, rocks\, seas\, and air for us to be present to and revel in each day. Earth provides\, and I wish to help foster love and kindness for her in return. ?? \nAfter the open circle\, settle in for a trip around the globe! On the projector screen\, there will be videos of different locations on the planet. To go with each location\, there will be live music and sound healing. This will range from guitar based folk music to Native American style flute\, shamanic drumming with chanting/singing\, and much more. Along with the music that comes through me\, the sounds of nature will wash over you too! There will be the sounds of Earth’s music… birds chirping\, waves rushing\, leaves rustling.
