SUMMARY:Ecstatic Dance & Sound Bath with the Drum Nomads
DESCRIPTION:The Drum Nomads are a performance ensemble that specializes in drum rhythms from around the world\, as well as playing a variety of exotic melodic instruments.\nJoin the Nomads for a special evening of ecstatic dance where we start off with a welcoming ceremony to get people aligned with the vibe of dancing as a form of moving meditation and personal expression.  Then the rhythms begin\, easing in slowly and gradually building in tempo and intensity over the next hour until the dance floor will be bursting with high energy.  Then we bring things back down for a soft landing\, as the dancers melt onto the floor for a soothing and restorative sound bath to round out the night.\nCost is $20 per adult.\nDoors open at 6:30\, opening ceremony starts at 7:00pm.\nBring a water bottle\, wear loose clothing\, and have a blanket or yoga mat to lie on for the sound bath.\nNote that this is a “conscious dance” event\, and we ask that people arrive with their heads clear of drugs or alcohol.

DESCRIPTION:‘Divine Design – Ecstatic Dance & Sound Bath’ will be held on Friday\, January 10th at the Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick\, MA! And guess what? That just happens to be Jason’s birthday! Yay! Your smiling faces is the best present he could ask for\, so come on out to make it a birthday party too! Who says you can’t have a fun birthday party in your 30s? Not I\, that’s for sure! ? \nHere are the details… \n-Doors open at 6:30 for stretching\, snacking\, and socializing while music in the background sets the mood.\n-There will be an intention-setting meditation a little after 7:00pm.\n-We will then transition into dancing to delicious exotic jams\, with both DJ set/performance and live (often improv) accompaniment on a variety of instruments. This will be the ecstatic dance portion of the event.\n-Then\, cool down and ground with a soothing sound bath meditation.\n-Stick around\, have snacks\, and socialize for a bit after the sound bath if you wish! \nThere is a suggested donation of $25-35 for this event\, but if funds are a barrier to entry for you\, don’t let that stop you from enjoying this releasing\, healing\, and uplifting community event… just donate whatever you can. Every contribution will help us to keep putting on these events\, as we would like for this event to keep happening on a regular basis! \nTo create a conscious container for all the ways folks might wish to explore and experience this event with movement\, consent\, and inner emotional processing\, this is an adults only event. DESCRIPTION:Why go to the movie theater when you can gathering with friends and spiritual family to watch a movie on the big screen at the Common Street Spiritual Center? ??? \nWe will gather at 6:00pm to socialize and settle in. Movie will start at 6:30. If you’d like\, bring snacks\, non-alcoholic beverages\, and other goodies for a pot luck style snack bar… but most importantly\, bring your selves! There will be cushions\, mats\, and blankets available for borrowing\, but feel free to bring cozy chairs\, pillows\, yoga mats… anything you want to bring to settle in and relax much more luxuriously than you could in a theater (even though modern movie theater seats are getting pretty dang good)! \nThere will be a poll in the discussion in the Facebook Event Page (link included in this post) with a few movie options to choose from. Whatever gets the most votes\, that’s what we’ll see! Let the people decide! All options will be PG-13 or lower rating. No R movies for this one… kids welcomed. Perhaps in the future we will have a separate movie nights for kid-friendly and non-kid-friendly\, but for this first one of 2025\, all ages are welcomed. Of course\, use your own discretion to decide if the movie that is selected is right for you and/or any kids you wish to bring. \nThis is a free event and open to the whole community. DESCRIPTION:We are offering a practice of Mevlevi Sufi Zikr in the tradition of Rumi with Karim and Noor Kerima Payton\, Suleyman Loras and musicians friends from Orkestra Marhaba.\nJoin us for a magical experience of Mevlevi Sufi dancing and singing in celebration of Divine Presence. For over forty years\, the Mevlevi Order of America has offered gatherings with music\, poetry and dervish whirling and chanting. We will lead a Zikr practice in the tradition of Rumi.\n\nThe Mevlevi tradition hearkens back to Sufi master Rumi (1207-1273)\, who has become the best-selling poet in America. Rumi’s poetry is filled with a longing for God the Friend and the Beloved. His realization expressed the Source of all religions and spiritual paths\, the Way of Love\, that unites those of many cultures and traditions.\n‘Zikhr’\, a Sufi chanting practice\, means ‘Remembrance of God’. It awakens us from the state of forgetfulness\, forgetting why one has come to Earth. It is a channel opener which helps with attaining true knowledge.\nMusicians from Orkestra Marhaba will share devotional music played on traditional instruments. DESCRIPTION:DEDTALK is a community event where we gather and talk about all things death\, loss\, and mortality. At a typical DEDTALK event\, we have a group conversation followed by a mediumship reading. However\, once a year\, around The Day of the Dead\, we skip the group conversation and reading and allow folks to take the stage and express their personal relationship with death via their art of choice- dance\, music\, poetry\, storytelling\, etc. We will also have an ofrenda\, or ancestor altar\, which we encourage guests to bring photos and items for so we can honor those who have passed. \nWe believe that the more we talk about death\, the less taboo it becomes. It allows us to connect deeper as a community\, reduce fears\, and realize what is most important in life. Death is a natural part of life and is nothing to be feared.

DESCRIPTION:The Bwiti tradition is a spiritual practice that originated in southern Gabon but has now spread in different branches throughout Gabon\, Cameroon\, Congo\, and beyond. Bwiti is not a religion\, but a traditional spiritual path known to initiates as the “art of knowing” and the “study of life itself.” \nThe fire talk is an essential element of Bwiti healing practices. Every ceremony begins with a fire talk where Bwiti teachings are shared. In order to promote wisdom and groundedness in the village\, elders and medicine carriers (Ngangas and Maboundis) provide counseling rooted in the Bwiti teachings before the community partakes in ingesting medicine. \nThis fire talk session will be co-facilitated by Pamela “Ngondet Na Di Puma” Rosario Pérez and\nWill “Etsika Mbudi” Dickerson II. Ngondet and Etsika are traditional medicine and culture carriers of the Missoko Bwiti lineage\, initiated by the 10th-generation nima Papa Moughenda Mikala.

DESCRIPTION:This past year has seen so much violence\, hatred\, and division. Since the horrific attack on Oct 7th\, in which many innocent Israelis were murdered\, Gaza has been decimated and countless Palestinian lives have been lost. Children are starving and being murdered. Many Israelis and Palestinians are still in captivity. All people deserve to be free. Genocide is being perpetrated in many places around the world\, in Sudan and in Congo. Our government continues to deny its responsibility for the suffering in our global human family. \nBring your hearts and the pain\, grief\, medicine of your authenticity to be held in safety. We are coming together to touch this great suffering\, to grieve together\, and to find hope and purpose through the cultivation of compassion\, wisdom\, and love. \nPeople of all beliefs\, backgrounds\, and spiritual paths are welcome. We will build a common altar and create a non-judgmental and loving container where healing can take place. All will be welcome to share poems\, songs\, and prayers\, and to speak their truths in a sacred circle.
