DESCRIPTION:The Drum Nomads are a performance ensemble that specializes in drum rhythms from around the world\, as well as playing a variety of exotic melodic instruments.\nJoin the Nomads for a special evening of ecstatic dance where we start off with a welcoming ceremony to get people aligned with the vibe of dancing as a form of moving meditation and personal expression.  Then the rhythms begin\, easing in slowly and gradually building in tempo and intensity over the next hour until the dance floor will be bursting with high energy. Whatever gets the most votes\, that’s what we’ll see! Let the people decide! All options will be PG-13 or lower rating. No R movies for this one… kids welcomed. DESCRIPTION:We are offering a practice of Mevlevi Sufi Zikr in the tradition of Rumi with Karim and Noor Kerima Payton\, Suleyman Loras and musicians friends from Orkestra Marhaba.\nJoin us for a magical experience of Mevlevi Sufi dancing and singing in celebration of Divine Presence. For over forty years\, the Mevlevi Order of America has offered gatherings with music\, poetry and dervish whirling and chanting. We will lead a Zikr practice in the tradition of Rumi.\n\nThe Mevlevi tradition hearkens back to Sufi master Rumi (1207-1273)\, who has become the best-selling poet in America. Rumi’s poetry is filled with a longing for God the Friend and the Beloved. His realization expressed the Source of all religions and spiritual paths\, the Way of Love\, that unites those of many cultures and traditions.\n‘Zikhr’\, a Sufi chanting practice\, means ‘Remembrance of God’. It awakens us from the state of forgetfulness\, forgetting why one has come to Earth. DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all for this gentle yoga class meant to stretch and ease sore spots! All are welcome\, and chair modifications will be offered for anyone who needs it. We will practice breath work\, and move the spine through extension\, flexion\, rotation and lateral stretches. We will share pose names to build familiarity with the asana practice\, and end the class with a guided meditation. DESCRIPTION:DEDTALK is a community event where we gather and talk about all things death\, loss\, and mortality. At a typical DEDTALK event\, we have a group conversation followed by a mediumship reading. However\, once a year\, around The Day of the Dead\, we skip the group conversation and reading and allow folks to take the stage and express their personal relationship with death via their art of choice- dance\, music\, poetry\, storytelling\, etc. We will also have an ofrenda\, or ancestor altar\, which we encourage guests to bring photos and items for so we can honor those who have passed. \nWe believe that the more we talk about death\, the less taboo it becomes. It allows us to connect deeper as a community\, reduce fears\, and realize what is most important in life. Death is a natural part of life and is nothing to be feared.
