SUMMARY:Collective Solidarity Fast for Gaza
DESCRIPTION:At a time when thousands of people in Gaza are facing malnutrition and starvation\, we are inviting people to set aside a day to fast in solidarity. Fasting raises our awareness of what the Palestinian people are experiencing\, and increases our compassion.\n\nOn Monday\, August 11th\, please consider fasting during the day and praying for the speedy delivery of food\, medicine\, and other necessities for the people in Gaza.\n\nAt 6pm\, we’ll gather in the sanctuary of the Spiritual Center to reflect on our experiences of fasting and pray together for all who are suffering from hunger in Gaza and around the world.*\n\nThrough our fasting and our time together\, we will build our collective hope and resolve to build a world in which the sacredness and humanity of each person is recognized and respected\, and in which violent warfare is no longer accepted as a way to resolve international disputes.\n\nAs a way to support those experiencing hunger\, given that delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza is currently blocked\, you are invited to donate to a local food bank such as the Natick Service Council or to bring nonperishable food and hygiene products for our Common Good Mini Pantry at the Spiritual Center.\n\n*We are also mindful\, for example\, that millions of people in Sudan\, South Sudan\, and Haiti are also facing emergency levels of food insecurity due to destabilizing conflicts and displacement.

DESCRIPTION:At a time when thousands of people in Gaza are facing malnutrition and starvation\, we are inviting people to set aside a day to fast in solidarity. \nOn Monday\, August 4th\, please consider fasting during the day and praying for the speedy delivery of food\, medicine\, and other necessities for the people in Gaza. \nAt 6pm\, we’ll gather in the sanctuary of the Spiritual Center to reflect on our experiences of fasting and pray together for all who are suffering from hunger in Gaza and around the world.*** \nAs a way to support those experiencing hunger\, given that delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza is currently blocked\, you are invited to donate to a local food bank such as the Natick Service Council or to bring nonperishable food and hygiene products for our Common Good Mini Pantry at the Spiritual Center. \n***We are also mindful\, for example\, that millions of people in Sudan\, South Sudan\, and Haiti are also facing emergency levels of food insecurity due to destabilizing conflicts and displacement.

These may be moments of awakening\, struggle\, clarity\, or divine encounter. DESCRIPTION:Experience Jesus’ message of love holistically in an inclusive spiritual setting\, without any dogma or sectarianism blocking the way.\n\nFri\, August 1st\, Doors at 630pm to give people time to have tea and settle in. The reading begins at 7pm with a brief opening ceremony of prayer\, intentions\, and song.\n\nThe heart of this event is a spirited reading of the entire Gospel of Luke facilitated by Rev. Dr. Ian Mevorach\, director of the Common Street Spiritual Center; he has been a student of Jesus and other great prophets and spiritual teachers for over 20 years.\n\nThe.reading of the Gospel will be offered without explanation or interpretation\, in trust that it speaks for itself.\n\nAfter the reading\, we’ll have a time for integration\, sharing\, and a closing prayer.\n\nThe goal of this Sacred Gospel Reading is  is not to convert participants to any form or sect of Christianity\, but rather to create an inclusive and dynamic space where people of diverse belief systems and philosophical perspectives can share in an authentic experience of the teachings and story of Jesus\, which sends a message of love that transcends religious categories and forms.\n\nPeople of all beliefs\, spiritual paths\, and religious identities\, and those who do not identify as religious and/or spiritual\, are all equally welcome to participate\, and people of all ages are also welcome.
