SUMMARY:SpiritDrum
DESCRIPTION:A spiritual circle that is open to the public and is geared for adult participation (younger attendees must be able to maintain focus for the full 2 hours).  SpiritDrum blends together meditative drumming\, sacred chant and life-affirming ritual to create an experience that can bring inner peace and a sense of liberation.  The primary instruments are frame drums played with beaters\, as well as shakers and rattles.  Bring your own if you can\, or borrow from the extras on hand (please leave full-size djembe drums at home).  People are asked to arrive before 7pm to settle in before the opening ceremony. \nSpiritDrum is a unique gathering that combines life-affirming ritual with meditative drumming\, sacred chanting and sound exploration for an overall intention of deepening connection between the Earth-mother and our inner selves.  Partly facilitated\, partly free-form\, SpiritDrum creates an intimate space which allows us to express our spiritual aspirations through the vibrations of our drums and voices.  SpiritDrum is unlike a typical drum circle — it is quieter\, more contemplative and focused on healing through the medium of sound. For that reason\, we ask two things: please leave large drums (such as djembes) at home\, and please arrive before 7pm to minimize disruptions once the evening’s energy begins to flow.  Extra drums will be provided for sharing\, but you are encouraged to bring smaller drums such as frame drums\, doumbeks\, bongos and other instruments like rattles\, singing bowls\, chimes\, didgeridoos and flutes.  No prior experience is necessary.  Young people must be able to maintain focus for the full two hours.  Located on the 3rd level in the choir room.  Come in through the School Street entrance. \nDave Curry is the creator of Drums For One & All\, which includes facilitating public events\, giving workshops\, teaching private lessons\, giving live performances\, and doing drum repairs.  Every month\, Dave has lead the popular FreeDrum event since 2001\, and the SpiritDrum event since 2006.  Dave is co-creator and organizer for the Eastern Mass Rhythm Festival\, which is entering its 18th season.  Dave is the author of two books on hand drumming\, and has taught drum classes at the Assabet school since 2009.  Dave is the creative director of the Drum Nomads performance ensemble.  Over the past 22 years\, Dave has lead well over 1000 drumming events at schools\, churches\, colleges\, libraries\, retreat centers and other institutions across New England. \n4th Saturday monthly\, 7pm to 9pm (setup starts at 6pm)\n$10 per person (cash/check/venmo/paypal) \nWebsite:  www.DrumsForOneAndAll.com\nEmail:  Drumhead@DrumsForOneAndAll.com\nFacebook:  www.facebook.com/groups/DrumsForOneAndAll
