DESCRIPTION:Join us in circle to sing soulful songs that uplift the heart and spirit. No experience is needed—just a willingness to add your voice and share in the joy of music\, connection\, and community. Musicians are warmly invited to bring guitars\, drums\, flutes\, or other instruments to help weave the sound. If you would like to suggest a particular song\, email it to the leaders so they can learn it before the circle. \nHere are the themes we are planning: \n\nJan 5 – New Beginnings\nJan 19 – Songs of Freedom and Peace\nFeb 2 – Songs of Light and Inspiration\nFeb 16 – Heart Songs\nMarch 2 – Ancestral Songs\nMarch 16 – Songs of Spring\n\nAbout the Facilitators: Amanda Short and Willow Rose are longtime lovers of music\, community\, and soulful connection. SUMMARY:Chanting and Meditation Group
DESCRIPTION:This chanting and meditation group is designed to tap into our inner freedom. We will have two 15 minute sessions of chanting and two 30 minute sessions of meditation. Through the actions of chanting and meditation\, the aim is to free all the thoughts and emotions stuck within our minds and bodies. And over time\, the goal is to free ourselves from our unconscious programming we have built over our lifetimes and deepen our connection with Spirit.\n\n\nThe event is free and open to the community. SUMMARY:Sufi Zikr and Whirling
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a magical experience of Mevlevi Sufi dancing and singing in celebration of Divine Presence. For over forty years\, the Mevlevi Order of America has offered gatherings with music\, poetry and dervish whirling and chanting. We will lead a Zikr practice in the tradition of Rumi.\n\nThe Mevlevi tradition hearkens back to Sufi master Rumi (1207-1273)\, who has become the best-selling poet in America. Rumi’s poetry is filled with a longing for God the Friend and the Beloved. His realization expressed the Source of all religions and spiritual paths\, the Way of Love\, that unites those of many cultures and traditions.\n\n‘Zikhr’\, a Sufi chanting practice\, means ‘Remembrance of God’. It awakens us from the state of forgetfulness\, forgetting why one has come to Earth. It is a channel opener which helps with attaining true knowledge.\n\nThe musicians will share devotional music played on traditional instruments. Everyone attending a Zikr is a participant; as the gathering unfolds\, all are tuned\, by the music and language of the Heart\, to the baraka (blessing)-filled atmosphere of love.\n\n“When a human being performs zikr\, their spirit—their heart starts to open. Their intelligence becomes more refined and more expansive. Their bodies become healthier. A beautiful condition comes about—similar to the one that is brought about by good music. These practices help cultivate concentration\, peace of mind\, strengthen and tone your body all at once. \nAll are welcome. No prior experience required. \nSuggested donation: $5-10 \nMeets in the Fellowship Hall downstairs.  Enter through the school street door and come downstairs to find us. \nAbout the Instructor: \nWei Li grew up in Mainland\, China. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology at Tufts University in 2005. Since 2010\, she has been studying Qi Gong and Tai Chi with Master Ming Wu and Master Shi Zhao. She finished her Fengyang Qi Gong Associate Instructor training in 2020 and has been teaching Qi Gong since at Wu Healing Center and Morse Institute Library.
