SUMMARY:The Turning Practice of The Whirling Dervishes
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome. No experience necessary. From the tradition of the great love poet Rumi\, these classes provide instruction in the whirling practice which polishes the heart\, clears the mind\, and trains the body to participate in wordless prayer. \nThe format of the classes will usually include warm-up exercises\, then turning instruction\, Zikr\, and/or other aspects of Mevlevi Sufi tradition such as teachings from Rumi. \nFirst class by donation. There is a fee for ongoing classes\, however\, a tight budget should not prevent participation. \nContact vnkpayton@gmail.com for more information\, or if in doubt about cancellation due to weather.
