SUMMARY:Annual Business Meeting of Common Street Spiritual Center
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, our community has an annual business meeting\, facilitated by our council (aka board) to which all members are invited. At this meeting\, members of the community have a chance to hear updates about how our center is doing and what our goals are going forward\, engage in discussion\, and also to vote on important topics like our budget and the election of new members of our council (aka board). \nThis year’s annual meeting is scheduled for Monday\, February 24th at 7pm\, and will be held virtually via zoom. Here’s the link: https://commonstreet.zoom.us/j/99306609037 \nAttendance at the meeting is highly encouraged\, because we are seeking to have a solid quorum of members present. If you are getting this email\, you are a member of the Spiritual Center community and we do ask that you attend the meeting if possible. \n*** \nOur community functions as a small democracy where each member has a voice and a vote\, and the most important decisions come before the community as a whole for discussion and a vote. The annual business meeting is open to the wider community\, like “friends” of the center who may be interested in learning more\, but only members are allowed to vote. \nIf you cannot be there on Feb 24th at 7pm\, our council  is working on a way to include more members in the process by sending out a recording of the meeting afterwards\, along with a survey that would at least informally give folks who missed the meeting a chance to vote or voice questions or comments for a two week window after the meeting. \n*** \nThis year\, we will be asking the community to vote on this proposed budget for 2025. [insert link] If you have questions about the budget\, please do ask them in advance by emailing the council at council@commonstreet.org. \nWe will also be sharing a report about our spending in the last calendar year with updates about what we accomplished\, how the community is growing and developing\, and forecasts of our plans for 2025\, including invitations for community members to get more engaged. \n*** \nCurrently\, our council is working to recruit new members to fill vacancies\, both for our council itself and for key teams that we are seeking to build around fundraising\, membership\, and volunteer engagement. Hopefully\, at the annual meeting\, we will be ready to present candidates for the council to the community for a vote. We will keep you updated as we learn more\, and let you know more about who the candidates may be in advance of the meeting. Also\, we want to invite members of the community to view this page to find out more about the openings on our council and to express interest if they feel called to serve in this way. https://commonstreet.org/growing-our-council/ \nSimilarly\, if you feel called to serve\, or if you simply want to learn more about the volunteer openings in the key areas of fundraising\, membership\, and/or volunteer engagement\, please visit this page to learn more and express interest: https://commonstreet.org/forming-core-volunteer-teams/ \nAs we move into 2025\, one of our goals is to strengthen the volunteer structure of the community\, which we believe will add to our overall resilience and our ability to accomplish the goals we envision. \n*** \nCurrent member of the Common Street Council: \nLaura Hake\, Samuel Gloyd\, Michael Corthell\, Damon Farnum\, Ian Mevorach \nThe council can be reached by email at council@commonstreet.org

SUMMARY:Men's Wisdom Council
DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to be a “Man”? \nMost men find that there is no clear answer to that question. It’s never been easy being a man. We take on the roles that society assigns us\, without being given clear instructions. Role models that are offered up to us\, don’t speak to our deeper concerns\, or rarely reply from the depths that our spirit require. \nCouncils have long been used by many traditions and cultures as a way to come together and gain a greater understanding of the world. The Men’s Wisdom Council continues this sacred tradition of sharing and for deep listening. Our circle we will strive to create a safe\, supportive\, and non-judgmental space; where we can take turns telling our stories\, sharing our concerns\, and learning from each other\, as we explore how we\, as men\, walk through the stages of our lives. \nAll men are welcome to drop in and participate in our circle. Please contact Michael Corthell (michaelacorthell@gmail.com) for any questions that you may have.

SUMMARY:Circling
DESCRIPTION:Join us to experience The Practice of Circling if you\n• Want to know yourself more deeply\n• Want to experience and get to know others\n• Want to free yourself of unconscious wirings that may not serve you anymore\n• Want to practice awareness\, mindfulness\, connection\, and love\n• And / or want to experience a state of Being. \nThe practice of circling involves participants sitting in a circle and engaging in a shared experience that fosters connection\, reflection\, and mindfulness. \nWe sit with quiet attention\, until someone chooses to share with the group what they are experiencing\, sensing\, observing\, or imagining. \nOver time\, as such sharing occurs\, a shift can happen so that you experience a different sense of Self\, or even an experience of Being (which some may call God).\nThis is in contrast to day-to-day life\, in which one often experiences lots of Doing! \nDoing is necessary; and taking time to experience Being may be helpful to all aspects of one’s life. \nDinner table conversations can be nice\, but they tend to be people’s personalities doing their personality thing; in the practice of circling\, the personality is put into the background\, and Being and Connecting come into the foreground. \n–Intended for experienced circlers as well as anyone new to the practice. \n–Paul Gerzon\, Facilitator\n$: no charge for first time\nYou must be there by 3:00 p.m.\, on time; you may leave early if you need to.

SUMMARY:Show & Share (Stories of Summer Edition)
DESCRIPTION:Held in a community circle format on the 3rd floor of the center\, this event is free of charge (donations accepted) and will provide space for folks to gather face-to-face. It will be a place where people can connect in a vibe of safety\, spiritual communion\, openness\, honesty\, and non-judgement to share. My hope is for this to be a compassionate and open-hearted ‘show and tell’ for adults\, a place where the inner child can have space to experience emotional release\, connect\, and heal through the joy of supportive human connection! \nFor this iteration\, I will be trying something that was suggested to me recently. This ‘Show & Share’ will start off with a theme. So\, the first round of sharing will be focused on the phrase “stories of summer.” Stories\, memories\, pictures\, poems\, songs… please bring something to share with the group that is from and/or reminds of past summer experience from you life. \nThen\, if there is time\, we will open the floor to a round of more freestyle sharing… fears\, joys\, and get into deep places that are often difficult in surface-level conversations\, stories\, poems\, songs\, life experiences\, creative emotional expression\, dance\, photo albums… all are fair game for the freestyle round!\n—————\n-At the open and close of each meeting I will facilitate a short sound healing and guided meditation. Also\, if a few people bring instruments\, we could do a peaceful jam session at the end of the event… I’m always up for those!\n-While I don’t wish to make any topics explicitly off limits\, we will practice compassionate and respectful communication. There will be a ‘talking stick’ of some sort\, so the only ground rules will be: don’t interrupt while someone is sharing\, don’t respond directly to a share without asking permission first\, and please do not use derogatory/demeaning language or point aggressive communication/anger at anyone.\n-There is no commitment required. Come to one circle or come on a regular basis. This is not a closed or ‘regular members only’ event.\n-I will bring a limited amount of snacks. Anyone who wants to bring food and/or non-alcoholic beverages to share\, you welcome to do so.\n—————\nI hope to build a supportive and connected community around this gathering\, which will be held on a recurring basis (regular recurring time open to group discussion and potentially subject to change). \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to Jason at MetalionMusicOfficial@gmail.com or (508)254-0263. \n*Please note that the end time of the gathering will be organic and will flow with being in the moment on that day. 5:00pm is a loose target. Anyone who wants to come but needs to come after 3:00pm or leave before 5:00pm can feel free to do so knowing that it will be received with acceptance and grace.* \nPeace & Respect\,\nJason Karol

SUMMARY:Show & Share
DESCRIPTION:Held in a community circle format\, this event is free of charge (donations accepted) and will provide space for folks to gather face-to-face. It will be a place where people can connect in a vibe of safety\, spiritual communion\, openness\, honesty\, and non-judgement to share whatever they wish. My hope is for this to be something of a compassionate and open-hearted ‘show and tell’ for adults\, a place where the inner child can have space to play freely\, experience emotional release\, and heal through the joy of supportive human connection! \nIf you want to share feelings: fears\, joys\, and get into deep places that are often difficult in surface-level conversations\, you are welcome. If you choose to share stories\, poems\, songs\, life experiences\, you are welcome. Want to share creative emotional expression\, dance\, photo albums\, or something else that is important to you? YOU ARE WELCOME!\n—————\n-At the open and close of each meeting I will facilitate a short sound healing and guided meditation. This is not a closed or ‘regular members only’ event.\n-I will bring a limited amount of snacks.\nAnyone who wants to bring food and/or non-alcoholic beverages to share\, you welcome to do so.\n-This group will meet in the Meditation Room on the 3rd floor.\n—————\nI hope to build a supportive and connected community around this gathering\, which will be held on a recurring basis (regular recurring time open to group discussion and potentially subject to change). \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to Jason at MetalionMusicOfficial@gmail.com.
