SUMMARY:African American Saturday School
DESCRIPTION:African American Saturday SchoolThird Saturdays | 12:00–3:00 PMMeeting Room\, Common Street Spiritual CenterFacilitated by Deborah Mitchell \nAfrican American Saturday School is a monthly gathering devoted to learning\, reflection\, and community rooted in the rich history and cultural legacy of African Americans. Led by educator and community leader Deborah Mitchell\, this program offers a space to study African American history through autobiographies\, guided lesson plans\, book discussions\, and presentations from guest speakers. \nParticipants will explore the stories\, struggles\, creativity\, and contributions that have shaped African American life in the United States and beyond. Sessions may include storytelling\, music\, and artistic expression that illuminate the historical journey and cultural traditions of African Americans. \nThe program will also provide space to examine current policy issues affecting African American communities today. Through dialogue and shared learning\, the gathering aims to serve as a thoughtful forum—a place where people of all races\, creeds\, and denominations can engage deeply with history while reflecting on the challenges and possibilities of the present. \nAfrican American Saturday School is also intended to inspire the next generation of leaders by connecting historical knowledge with a sense of responsibility for the future. \nThe program is open and free to the public. A goodwill offering is welcome but not required. Books and African-American-inspired artwork by local\, regional\, and international artists will also be available for purchase. \nAll are welcome to join this ongoing space for learning\, culture\, and community. \nhttps://us04web.zoom.us/j/79271727876?pwd=jH2IwocPAkBHIjwTvWspESRFg98lPn.1 \nMeeting ID: 792 7172 7876\nPasscode: V11P67

SUMMARY:Cacao and Gospel Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Come experience the inspiring story of Jesus in a fresh and inclusive way—no dogma\, no pressure\, just a space to connect deeply with the powerful message of love at the heart of Jesus’ teachings. \nAt the center of this gathering is a dramatic reading of the Gospel of John (just about 2 hours)\, facilitated by Rev. Dr. Ian Mevorach\, director of the Common Street Spiritual Center. Ian has been a student of Jesus and other spiritual teachers for over 20 years and brings a soulful\, openhearted approach to this sacred story. \nThe ceremony will also include simple practices that help us feel and embody the story—like meditation\, prayer\, drinking cacao\, song\, and reflective moments for group sharing. \nThis gathering is open to everyone—whatever your background\, beliefs\, or level of familiarity with the Gospel. You don’t need to be Christian or even religious to feel at home here. The message of love at the core of Jesus’ life transcends any one tradition\, and this event is about experiencing that message together\, in a spirit of openness and curiosity. \nWhat to bring (if you can): \n\n\nWater bottle \n\n\nYoga mat\, meditation cushion\, or blanket to sit on (chairs also available) \n\n\nJournal (optional) \n\n\nBible (optional\, if you’d like to read along) \n\n\nNo cost to attend — donations to the Spiritual Center are always welcome at www.commonstreet.org/give \nMeets upstairs in the Moon Room \nQuestions or want to help out?Reach out to Ian at ian@commonstreet.orgVolunteers are warmly welcomed to help set up\, clean up\, or assist during the ceremony.

SUMMARY:Peace Vigil for Love and Unity
DESCRIPTION:This past year has seen so much violence\, hatred\, and division. Since the horrific attack on Oct 7th\, in which many innocent Israelis were murdered\, Gaza has been decimated and countless Palestinian lives have been lost. Children are starving and being murdered. Many Israelis and Palestinians are still in captivity. All people deserve to be free. Genocide is being perpetrated in many places around the world\, in Sudan and in Congo. Our government continues to deny its responsibility for the suffering in our global human family. \nBring your hearts and the pain\, grief\, medicine of your authenticity to be held in safety. We are coming together to touch this great suffering\, to grieve together\, and to find hope and purpose through the cultivation of compassion\, wisdom\, and love. \nPeople of all beliefs\, backgrounds\, and spiritual paths are welcome. We will build a common altar and create a non-judgmental and loving container where healing can take place. All will be welcome to share poems\, songs\, and prayers\, and to speak their truths in a sacred circle. All voices are needed in this movement for liberation of all people. \nWe are a diverse community\, and we need to listen and learn from each other\, and to find enough unity to work together for peace and justice.

SUMMARY:Awakening - Exploring The Dance Of Light & Dark
DESCRIPTION:Dear friends\, \nYou are invited to join us for a unique and enriching spiritual experience at our gathering called Awakening. \nThis is definitely not a traditional church service. Awakening offers a space where individuals can come together to explore and deepen their spiritual journey in a supportive community setting. \nWHAT TO EXPECT AT AWAKENING: \n– Brief Music/Meditation: Take a moment to settle in. Experience the power of mindfulness and connect with Spirit. \n– Interactive Exploration and Discussion: Explore both the light and dark aspects of life (and of yourself) with nuance and compassion instead of rules and judgment. \n– Engage in meaningful reflection\, open dialogue\, and explore innovative perspectives. Do you disagree with commonly held ideas about our Divine nature? BRING IT! This is a place where you have permission to share and explore your truth with other intelligent beings who have similar questions. \n– Stories From The Other Side: Hear stories from people who have had direct experiences with the other side. \n– Coffee / Chai Hour: After our gathering\, join us for a relaxed coffee hour where you can connect with fellow attendees\, discuss ideas\, and deepen your sense of community. \nIS THIS FOR YOU? \nAt Awakening\, there are no experts or authorities dictating how you should think or live. Instead\, we embrace curiosity and inquiry\, encouraging questions that expand our possibilities and foster personal growth. \nCome be a part of this experiment with us. Let’s create something beautiful together. All that’s required is an open mind and a willingness to explore. \nPlease RSVP to this event by grabbing your free ticket on Eventbrite. Your RSVP helps us ensure a meaningful experience for everyone. \nWe look forward to seeing you at Awakening. \nJason and Amanda

How the Circle moves and what comes forth individually and collectively will be a result of who shows up on any given date. Each Circle will hold its own magic and connection to what is already embedded in you. Come and explore life through an Indigenous lens. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you find out about life and how you are called to walk in it!\n\nOnce the Seven Circles are complete\, we intend to host a collective integration on Zoom where all participants can come on to share how things are moving\, or have moved\, since they participated in one or more of the gatherings.
