DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to be a “Man”? \nMost men find that there is no clear answer to that question. It’s never been easy being a man. We take on the roles that society assigns us\, without being given clear instructions. Role models that are offered up to us don’t speak to our deeper concerns\, or rarely reply from the depths that our spirits require. \nCouncils have long been used by many traditions and cultures as a way to come together and gain a greater understanding of the world. DESCRIPTION:Held in a community circle format\, this event is free of charge (donations accepted) and will provide space for folks to gather face-to-face. It will be a place where people can connect in a vibe of safety\, spiritual communion\, openness\, honesty\, and non-judgement to share whatever they wish. My hope is for this to be something of a compassionate and open-hearted ‘show and tell’ for adults\, a place where the inner child can have space to play freely\, experience emotional release\, and heal through the joy of supportive human connection! \nIf you want to share feelings: fears\, joys\, and get into deep places that are often difficult in surface-level conversations\, you are welcome. If you choose to share stories\, poems\, songs\, life experiences\, you are welcome. Want to share creative emotional expression\, dance\, photo albums\, or something else that is important to you? YOU ARE WELCOME!\n—————\n-At the open and close of each meeting I will facilitate a short sound healing and guided meditation. Also\, if a few people bring instruments\, we could do a peaceful jam session at the end of the event… I’m always up for those!\n-While I don’t wish to make any topics explicitly off limits\, we will practice compassionate and respectful communication. There will be a ‘talking stick’ of some sort\, so the only ground rules will be: don’t interrupt while someone is sharing\, don’t respond directly to a share without asking permission first\, and please do not use derogatory/demeaning language or point aggressive communication/anger at anyone.\n-There is no commitment required. Come to one circle or come on a regular basis. We’ll finish out the night with a jam. \nPoint of the event is to have fun and make music together. There is little expectation beyond that. \nFormat of the event:  we’ll play relatively easy songs which are 3-5 chords. We’ll have a list to choose from for this event\, and we’ll cast them on a screen / or have on poster-boards\, so everyone can see the chords and lyrics. We’ll draw numbers from a hat @ 7pm and that will be the order of those wanting to lead a song. If you just want to play\, then just play! \nGenres include but not limited to Rock\, Pop\, Folk\, Blues. Typically\, we’ll be mostly in 4/4 time to keep things simple. I’ll start off the 1st song to get us warmed up\, then we’ll take turns leading a song (optional if you desire to). \nNote: we’ll play mostly “clean” in terms of sound\, but some basic pedals / effects are permitted such as Wah\, Compressor\, Reverb\, Delay\, etc. Ear plugs will be available. \nAlso Note:  respectfulness of everyone’s ability level is expected\, kindness is appreciated. DESCRIPTION:Held in a community circle format on the 3rd floor of the center\, this event is free of charge (donations accepted) and will provide space for folks to gather face-to-face. It will be a place where people can connect in a vibe of safety\, spiritual communion\, openness\, honesty\, and non-judgement to share. My hope is for this to be a compassionate and open-hearted ‘show and tell’ for adults\, a place where the inner child can have space to experience emotional release\, connect\, and heal through the joy of supportive human connection! \nFor this iteration\, I will be trying something that was suggested to me recently. This ‘Show & Share’ will start off with a theme. So\, the first round of sharing will be focused on the phrase “stories of summer.” Stories\, memories\, pictures\, poems\, songs… please bring something to share with the group that is from and/or reminds of past summer experience from you life. \nThen\, if there is time\, we will open the floor to a round of more freestyle sharing… fears\, joys\, and get into deep places that are often difficult in surface-level conversations\, stories\, poems\, songs\, life experiences\, creative emotional expression\, dance\, photo albums… all are fair game for the freestyle round!\n—————\n-At the open and close of each meeting I will facilitate a short sound healing and guided meditation. Also\, if a few people bring instruments\, we could do a peaceful jam session at the end of the event… I’m always up for those!\n-While I don’t wish to make any topics explicitly off limits\, we will practice compassionate and respectful communication. There will be a ‘talking stick’ of some sort\, so the only ground rules will be: don’t interrupt while someone is sharing\, don’t respond directly to a share without asking permission first\, and please do not use derogatory/demeaning language or point aggressive communication/anger at anyone.\n-There is no commitment required. Come to one circle or come on a regular basis. This is not a closed or ‘regular members only’ event.\n-I will bring a limited amount of snacks. Dub is one of the many sub genres of Reggae music. Dub is instrumental Reggae that is artistically enhanced and layered with effects like echo and reverb as well as production techniques like splicing in snipits of vocals or sporadically dropping out all the instruments except for the powerful\, stripped down drum and bass.\n\n\n\nDub gives the recording engineer the opportunity to become the musician as their multi-track mixing console acts as the instrument. An engineer making Dub is like a chef creating a unique meal not often seen on most menus!\n\n\n\nJamaican producer and engineer King Tubby is commonly known as the creator of Dub\, as he first experimented with ways to manipulate and “dub out” his instrumental tracks in the early 1970s. Today\, his innovation and influence is widely seen in genres like techno\, drum and bass\, and electronic music overall. DESCRIPTION:Join 52:db (Jason A. Karol and Trevor McCabe… sometimes with musical guest collaborators) with Samantha Lynne performing flow art skills (and hopefully getting a dance party started)! This will be an evening of composed and improvised music in a variety of styles. Sit and listen\, lie down and meditate\, get up and dance… there will be space to accommodate all of those options! This event is part concert\, part sound journey\, part flow arts dance space!
